Five top tips for staffing

02 | During dissolution, you cannot increase or decrease staff salaries, but you can extend a fixed-term contract, make a temporary member of staff permanent, or hire new staff. New starters would not be entitled to any redundancy payment in the event you leave Parliament.

03 | A staff member can choose to leave your employment both during dissolution and after. You should ensure they are able to take their holiday before they leave. IPSA will only make payments to staff for untaken holiday relating to the current year, which may include up to 5 days of holiday pro-rata, carried over from 2023.

04 | If you leave Parliament, you should give timely notice to your staff. Please note that IPSA will not fund pay-in-lieu-of-notice for staff where the notice period falls outside of the winding-up period.

05 | Some offices will be impacted by boundary changes, and staff members who continue working for the same MP after the election may have a new work location. There is more information on our website on how we will support you through transitions because of boundary changes.
